It’s The Most Expensive Time of the Year: Gathering my Birthday Wishlist

Updated: May 7, 2020

Originally, this little piece was meant to be Christmas-oriented, but unfortunately, holiday spirit didn’t exactly co-exist with a steady writing schedule (*puts on a cone of shame*). Oh well, here’s to doing better next year!

Now that the festive season is behind us, having left our stomachs full and heads refreshed from spending time with loved ones, it’s time to go back to reality, as well as empty wallets. As luck would have it, sometimes spoiling those dear to us rotten can be somewhat pricy. Such circumstances can suck for January and February babies, who were unlucky enough to be born right after the holiday craze (myself included) and just wish to treat themselves on their special day.

On the bright side, there’s no harm in window shopping, and if you just so happen to spot something on the affordable side, there’s no harm if it ‘accidentally’ ends up in your basket...

After some hours of internet browsing, I compiled a little list solely of beauty items I would like for myself to enjoy, and maybe review in the future. Maybe this will help you get some ideas for your sisters/girlfriends/mothers? Or even for yourself, like me over here.

Anyway, without further ado, let’s begin!

Naked Reloaded Eyeshadow Pallette - over the last few months I discovered the joys of high-end cosmetics and I have taken a definite liking for Urban Decay Naked collection. I have the Naked3 and Cherry ones (with an article on the latter coming soon), and since you can never have enough of a good thing, I would love to add Reloaded to my collection. The shades offered seem to be a perfect balance of light and dark, shimmery and matte, offering various options for an effortless neutral look which is suitable for daytime. I’ll be right back actually, just quickly adding it to my cart...

Lemon Sherbet Showder in the depth of winter there’s nothing like feeling the smell of summer. And what’s better for that than the lemony scent of this fabulous lush showder? You’d think I had it already from the way I’m talking about it – the product just seems to sell itself. Let’s say this is definitely one of the more affordable items on this list so maybe soon enough I will be able to transform my bathroom into a fruit basket?

Disney Princess Face Masks – this item combines two of my favourite things: face masks and Disney. It seems like it’s the perfect item to pamper yourself in style, with the packet offering four different options depending on which princess suits your mood. The masks are even themed based on the characteristics of each princess, which is the perfect way to personalise each mask, as well as be able to feel like royalty yourself!

Proof is in the Pudding Eyeshadow – as soon as I found out Beauty Bakerie was going to be sold in the UK, I cheered. Cruelty-free good quality cosmetics? I’ll take five, please! The palette has a great balance of matte and shimmery shades that range from beige to gold to brown and even burgundy, offering the perfect amount of choices for a tame neutral every day look. If only it wasn’t so expensive...

Ted Baker Suite Harmony – Ted Baker is a brand I have never tried before, but definitely am interested, if only just to see if it lives up to its name. Boots seems to offer plenty of choices when it comes to the brand’s gifsets, Suite Harmony looks the most appealing. Two options of body lotion, body souffle, face masks, three options of body wash as well as an eye mask sounds like the perfect package. Let’s just hope it comes back in stock eventually.

Spa Luxetique Lavender Bath Gift Set – made from all-natural ingredients, this set offers anything from body butter to hand soap to bath bombs. As the name suggests, all products are lavender-scented, which is very suitable for night time to unwind your body after a long day of functioning as an adult. Quantities of the products would seem to last a long time, making the price worth the purchase. Now, where’s my debit card?

I could probably list at least a dozen more items, but why spoil all the good things at once? Besides, that gives me more material for future pieces. Until next time...
